Rilasciano un gioco gratuitamente per promuovere il digital delivery di MekTek, però se fanno il braccino corto regalando un gioco di 8 anni fa mi sa che non faranno tanta strada.

Ci dev'essere qualche patch/plugin/espansione di mezzo che forse modifica l'esperienza di gioco, ma non ho molto approfondito.

Per il primo avvio MTX è stato inchiodato per 10 minuti, ma ora sembra tranquillo. E' un'applicazione fatta in Visual C++ credo. Ci sono due giochi scaricabili, Assault Tech1: BattleTech (pare sia un remake di Mechwarrior 2 per dx7) e Mechwarrior4 (1791 MB di malloppazzo). In questo momento sto scaricando BattleTech, e come tipo di download mi dice che sta usando un torrent (che ho prontamente individuato e che userò per scaricarlo a parte).


EDIT: be', diciamo che "tranquillo" è una parola grossa per il programma. Sembrerebbe quasi monothread, a parte i processi di scaricamento (che non ho ancora capito se sono contemporanei o no, sembra di no). Vi terrò aggiornati.

Update from PedalToTheMetal editors: We found this MTX app to be one of the biggest piles of junk ever. If you could get past the slow load, memory leaks and crashes, it would take days to download anything. There is a torrent file in the MTX directory, you can download it with your favorite Bittorrent app, then rename the file to .zip. As of this morning, we were unable to download the torrent from MekTek.net, most likely the website is under heavy traffic, so we we have attached it to this news post for you. For those of you that hate the MTX client. Download the torrents and rename the extension from .mtx to .zip No need to "install", the zip opens up to a functional game. Just unzip to where you want it and then apply the patches manually(kind of like oblivion/fallout3 mods). Here are the torrents if you wish to skip the MTX client hell. We are going with a flat installer. The MTX thing was a total disaster. We should have this ready for downlaod via bittorrent in a few days. This will be a complete install up to version 21 (which has numerous issues fixed). Hopefully this will get everyone the game installed, and playing. Will also give us some breathing room to get this MTX thing redesigned to do what it needs to do. We never expect this many people.
